Welcome to pa-pier.
Everything begins with a black line on white paper. The line seeks out its way. It stops and starts again, forms shapes, patterns, structures or compresses itself into a black area.
The figures stem from my imagination and have nothing to do with the real world. They are not meant to be images of people, because the proportions are seldom correct. Nevertheless, they give the impression of figures and, despite their abstraction, they are recognisable as people, sometimes comic-like.
When looking at advertisements and promotional publications, I have noticed things that I am able to transport to a new, different level by removing, cropping, cutting out or reassembling, thus focusing on details that allow for a different perception or perspective.
